“Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.”
Finding My Own Way of Living Well
For me, living well isn’t about having a perfect life, being happy all the time or getting everything right. It’s about making conscious choices, understanding what truly matters and creating a life that feels good and meaningful.
Over the years, I’ve learned that how we live is influenced by so many things: our habits, our choices, the people around us and the way we treat ourselves. Sometimes we get caught up in everyday routines, expectations and responsibilities, leaving little time to think about what we actually want or need.
I’ve come to realise that living well starts with paying attention. Being aware of what gives you energy, what makes you happy, what takes too much from you and what you would like to do differently.
It’s not about changing everything at once. It’s about making small, conscious choices that gradually bring you closer to the life you want to live.
The values that guide me
I’ve identified four core values that help me shape my life and make choices that feel right for me. They are not rules or goals to achieve, but principles that remind me of what is important.
Vitality
Feeling good, both physically and mentally, gives me the energy to enjoy life and make the most of it. Taking care of my health, staying active, eating well and making time to recharge are all part of that.
Self-respect
Learning to value myself, recognise my needs and respect my own boundaries. It means making choices that are right for me, not simply doing what others expect or always putting myself last.
Calm & Harmony
Finding balance and creating space for peace and calm. Learning to manage stress, let go of unnecessary worries and focus my time and energy on what truly matters.
Involvement & Connection
Life is about more than just ourselves. Meaningful relationships, genuine connections and being involved in the world around us bring a sense of belonging and purpose. It’s about staying curious, sharing experiences and making a positive contribution where I can.
Putting values into practice
Knowing what matters to you is one thing. Living according to those values is another.
It takes awareness, sometimes a little courage and a willingness to make different choices. It may mean changing habits, setting boundaries, trying something new or simply making more room for the things that bring you joy.
I don’t always get it right, and I don’t expect to. Life is constantly changing, and what I need today may be different from what I need tomorrow.
My four core values help me pause, reflect and find my way again when life gets busy or out of balance.
Find your own way
I don’t believe there is one formula for living well. What works for me may be completely different from what works for you. We all have different priorities, needs and ideas about what makes life meaningful.
Perhaps the most important thing is to take the time to discover what really matters to you and make choices that reflect it.
Your life, your values, your way.
There is always more to discover.
